Decapitated skull reveals brain!

The above image shows a gruesome find from Yorkshire where archaeologists have uncovered the remains of a decapitated skull that still contained brain matter! The skull was recovered from a pit and it appears as if the poor unfortunate man was hanged before being beheaded.  The head was then carefully placed in the pit where exceptional conditions allowed the brain matter to survive.
